Rheumatic Heart Disease Causes, Symptoms And Treatments

Rheumatic Fever

Rheumatic fever is uncommon in the US, except in children who have had strep infections that were untreated or inadequately treated. Children ages 5 to 15, particularly if they experience frequent strep throat infections, are most at risk for developing rheumatic fever. The infection often causes heart damage, particularly scarring of the heart valves, forcing the heart to work harder to pump blood. The damage may resolve on its own, or it may be permanent, eventually causing congestive heart failure (a condition in which the heart cannot pump out all of the blood that enters it, which leads to an accumulation of blood in the vessels leading to the heart and fluid in the body tissues).

Rheumatic Heart Disease Symptoms

The symptoms of rheumatic fever usually start about one to five weeks after your child has been infected with Streptococcus bacteria. The following are the most common symptoms of rheumatic fever. However, each child may experience symptoms differently. Symptoms may include:

– Joint inflammation – including swelling, tenderness, and redness over multiple joints. The joints affected are usually the larger joints in the knees or ankles. The inflammation “moves” from one joint to another over several days.- Small nodules or hard, round bumps under the skin.- A change in your child’s neuromuscular movements (this is usually noted by a change in your child’s handwriting and may also include jerky movements).- Rash (a pink rash with odd edges that is usually seen on the trunk of the body or arms and legs).- Fever.- Weight loss.- Fatigue.- Stomach pains.

The symptoms of rheumatic fever may resemble other conditions or medical problems. Always consult your child’s physician for a diagnosis.

Treatment for rheumatic heart disease:

Specific treatment for rheumatic heart disease will be determined by your child’s physician based on:

Your child’s overall health and medical history.

– Extent of the disease.- Your child’s tolerance for specific medications, procedures, or therapies.- Expectations for the course of the disease.- Your opinion or preference.

The best treatment for rheumatic heart disease is prevention. Antibiotics can usually treat strep throat (a Streptococcus bacterial infection) and stop acute rheumatic fever from developing. Antibiotic therapy has sharply reduced the incidence and mortality rate of rheumatic fever and rheumatic heart disease.

Children who have previously contracted rheumatic fever are often given continuous (daily or monthly) antibiotic treatments to prevent future attacks of rheumatic fever and lower the risk of heart damage.

If inflammation of the heart has developed, children may be placed on bed rest. Medications are given to reduce the inflammation, as well as antibiotics to treat the Streptococcus infection. Other medications may be necessary to handle congestive heart failure. If heart valve damage occurs, surgical repair or replacement of the valve may be considered.…

Sensitive Teeth Treatment and Prevention For Patients

Ever wondered, why you can’t take up cold, hot or even sweet things in your mouth, without getting aching feeling in your mouth. In some extreme cases, patients can’t even touch their tooth with their tongue or other teeth. In such cases, it is advisable to consult a dentist for your treatment.
Most people ignore this pain due to lack of time and money. Some others simply ignore it that is nothing of concern and dismiss it, altogether. But the fact is that it is a kind of tooth condition, when people have to suffer from pain, as and when they consume anything that hurts their tooth.
There are generally two types of tooth sensitivity:
Dentinal: Dentin, the middle layer of tooth is covered and protected by enamel above the gum line and centum below the gum line. Tooth’s center has a nerve branch, emerging from tooth pulp.
After prolonged neglect, dentin and centum are stripped-off leading to exposure of inner dentin. This dentin has nerve center in it which gets exposed to hot and cold liquid and creates sensitivity. It’s actually the nerves which get affected and cause dentinal sensitivity. One or more teeth can be affected by dentinal sensitivity.
Pulpal: The center of tooth constitutes blood vessels and nerves. When, the pulp of teeth gets exposed to different temperatures, then it causes sensitivity, known as pulpal sensitivity. It is generally connected with single tooth.
Causes of Sensitive teeth are:
o Poor oral hygiene
o Vigorous brushing of teeth, leading to destruction of enamel of teeth
o Tooth wearing for longer time.
o A filling which gets cracked over a period of time
o High consumption of acidic foods or beverages
o Tooth whitening with poor roots and excessive tooth whitening
o Untreated cavities
o Improper surgery in which roots of teeth are exposed
o An infection in tooth
o Broken or cracked tooth
All these problems are avoidable and treatment is also available for them. Therefore, it is better to have proper oral hygiene. Brushing twice a day, using soft brush, have proper and timely dental check-up and keep proper record of all visits help in prevention of sensitive teeth in most cases.…

Good Facial Skin Care is About Discipline and Consistency

What most people do not understand is that good facial care is about discipline and consistency. You need to follow your facial care routine religiously each and every day in order to see real benefits from your skin. Here is a list of the most effective elements that should be included in your daily facial skin care treatment. It’s actually a very simple skin care routine to follow, consisting of just 4 basic steps:
Step One: Cleansing
Step Two: Toning
Step Three: Exfoliating
Step Four: Moisturizing
The first step in any facial skin care routine should be cleansing. When you properly cleanse your skin you are removing extra oils, dust, pollutants and even grease from your skin that can ultimately cause damage. Add a few dabs of good-quality cleansing lotion of cream around your face and neck, and then massage it gently into your skin with sweeping, upward strokes. Wipe your face gently in a patting – not rubbing – fashion with a soft cotton ball or facial tissue. You should cleanse your face at least twice each day as a part of your complete facial skin care routine, in the morning and again in the evening. The best cleansers to use are products that are water-soluble.
The next step is toning. This step can be an optional part, however it adds a lot of benefits to your skin routine. In most cases, toning is not required if you properly cleanse your face. However, toning can help to remove any remaining traces of grease, dirt or even excess cleanser that were not fully removed in step one. You don’t have to work it into your daily facial skin care routine, however, it is a good idea to have it on hand to use occasionally, especially if you have been exposed to a lot of pollutants or other irritants.
Step three is exfoliation, which is considered by some to be an optional step in skin treatment. It should be used though at least once or twice each week, depending upon your environmental conditions and skin type. Your skin naturally replenishes its skin cells every 3-4 weeks, so using exfoliation as a part of your facial skin routine can really help this along. This skin care technique helps to naturally assist the skin by removing dead cells that can sometimes block the pores, causing blemishes or other skin conditions. It goes without saying, however, that excessive use of exfoliation can damage your skin so you should use it sparingly and with caution.
The final step in any good skin care routine is to moisturize. Many experts believe that moisturizing is really the most essential step in any good facial regiment. You use a moisturizer to help prevent dryness. Dry skin can be dangerous as well as unsightly, causing the upper layer of the skin to break and create an abundance of dead skin cells. Moisturizer should be applied similarly to the cleanser, using light, upward sweeping strokes. Most moisturizers will work best following a good cleaning as applied to damp, warm skin. It is important when using cleansers, toners and exfoliation products to not dry out the skin during these first important steps of the skin care regiment.
Aside from this basic skin care routine, you should also remember the following tips for proper facial skin care:
* Rather than just washing away your make-up each evening, be sure to use a proper make-up remover product instead.
* Be sure to choose your facial skin care products based largely upon your local environment as well as your skin type.…

Why Herbal Toothpaste Is Better Than Regular Ones?

Why Herbal Toothpaste Is Better Than Regular Ones?

You must have heard a lot about herbal toothpaste these days. Different people have different views regarding these products. Some says they are natural and beneficial for our oral health while others consider them as similar to regular and expensive than them. Research has proved that herbal toothpaste is better than regular paste, but today we will tell you the reasons so that you actually get to know the difference.

The herbal toothpaste has ingredients that are useful for your mouth. No other extra ingredients are found in them as a case with traditional toothpastes, which are quite harmful. The main ingredient in them is mint oil. This is considered as the best antimicrobial, anti bacterial and anti fungal agent. Although almost all toothpastes have this in them, but herbal paste has it is in larger quantity so that your mouth feels fresh, clean and bacteria free. Mint also removes bad odor from your mouth.

We use toothpaste to kill harmful bacteria that act on cavities and deposit plaque in them. Normal brushing procedure help to remove food debris and larger particles, but it is the natural chemicals of herbal-toothpaste that helps in killing these bacteria. In the absence of this, your mouth will suffer from bad breath and gingivitis. Surely, you would not like that to happen to your mouth.

Some of the harmful ingredients are present in regular toothpaste, which serves no purpose in cleaning. For example – sodium laurel sulfate, this is actually soap like substance which is added to toothpaste to create foam. This is also a skin irritant that increase probability of sores to people who are prone to this disease. How happily we select the toothpaste giving more foam without knowing that it can be harmful for mouth as well as for skin too.

Fluoride is an ingredient which is very debatable for its use in toothpaste. It is required to prevent cavities. It is not required for adults at all, but it is regularly questioned that even children need it or not. It has been said that even children do not need it as they consume required quantity through water. Traditional toothpastes have a high quantity of fluoride in them which creates a mottled gray appearance in your teeth and causes other harmful effects.

Generally people avoid using herbal paste because they are bit expensive than regular toothpaste. They are expensive as they contain 100 % natural products that are hard to collect, but they are present in high concentration in these toothpastes. This concentrated form compensates their higher price as the similar weight of herbal paste lasts much longer than the regular toothpaste.

After going through this article, you will look for a source which provides pure herbal-toothpaste. We can suggest you one reliable source and that is Yunadent Herbal Toothpaste. You can visit for further details about their products.…
